John Goodman lost 100 pounds in weight

There was a lot of news about John Goodman losing 100 pounds and below is his story on how he did it.John Goodman did it by hiring Mackie Shilstone to coach him to achieve this remarkable feat. Mackie Shilstone is a health coach famous for training many athletes like Serena Williams and was former football player for Tulane. Shilstone commented how John gave his very best to commit to the cardio exercise set for him as John doesn’t want to be extremely heavy again. After loosing the 100 pounds, John Goodman became very agile and is becoming a different actor as he can take on athletic roles.

He had cut down on sugar and exercise six days a week. Most importantly, he gave up drinking, as he is known to be alcoholic. The cardio exercise John could do is elliptical and recumbent bike as he has arthritic knees even though he likes to walk but his knees is giving him hell.

He was in a workout plan that includes strength training using resistance bands. These bands are great for him as the contraction and slow release of the bands builds muscles. With a boxing trainer, Axel Murillo, John did boxing twice a week. Each boxing session consists of 12 rounds where he builds up 2 minutes and 15 seconds of throwing punches with one minute of rest in between rounds. The actions of twisting, throwing punches and turning get his cardio up to lose weight. Identifying his optimum heart rate of 106 to 116 for burning fat was the key. Keeping at this heart rate gives him endorphins to make him feels a well-being feeling.

Being alcoholic was a big challenge for John Goodman as it gave him stress to keep up with the workout routines and keep off those weights. All this add on to his stressful career where it’s in a business of being in a constant worries of unemployment and concerns about his health when new opportunities of acting roles arises. When he drinks alcohol, he tends to consume a lot fudgy-wudgies and krispy-krispies as he would put it that compounds to his weight problem. His old weight was hanging around 375 before he started on the weight-loss plan.
